Climbing Emeishan: the bottom. China. Emeishan is an important place for Buddhism, as one of the four holy mountains of China. An incredible stair climbs the 2500 meters up to the Golden elephant from Baoguo, the village in the valley. Of course, there’s always the possibility to take the bus, but where would the fun be? Plus, there are far less people on foot. So, on this day, I woke up early, and after I dropped my luggage at the bus station, I grabbed my 2 yuan bamboo stick and hiked. I made my first halt near this temple, right before the first steep steps.
