The temple under Tianlong. Xiannüshan, Wulong county, China.
The temple lies in a valley above which 3 natural bridges arch more than 100 meters above. An other place I’ve discovered with impressive photographies on Internet, as I couldn’t find it using any of the guides I had. To get there turned out to be a bit of challenge, from the remote Chongqing bus station to see the temple, it took me around 4 to 5 hours using 3 different buses. The place is incredible. Imagine a hole with abrupt walls, and a stair winding down to a flat path under a massive stone arch. After a turn, the temple appears. Of course, I wasn’t alone, lots of tourists were shouting and testing the echo, so it wasn’t precisely a soothing experience. The place has been used as a movie stage for Chinese movies, as well as one of the dreaded transformers movies, and you’re regularly reminded of it, like with the big “Optimus Prime riding a dinobot” statue right behind the turn. Anyway, in spite of the crowd and the disputable decorative items, the place was well worth the tour.
