The old shop keeper. Chongqing, China. After reaching this huge city, and struggling for a couple of hour to find a hostel for the night, I walked by those two shops. The lady was outside, waiting for the end of the day. When I asked if I could take a picture of her, she seemed flattered. After a couple of shots, her daughter (?) summoned all of the available grandkid for me to shot them! They were really amused by my presence and my strange idea to shot random strangers. Some passersby stopped as well, and asked me to have a look at my pic on the back of my camera. After an approximate exchange in Chenglish, I learned that the lady was around 85 years old. Surprisingly, people seemed thankful that I took a picture of them. If anything, I was supposed to be the one thankful. And as I walked away, we kept saying “xièxie” (谢谢 – Thank you) to each other with a confused smile.
