Gate to the Pacific. Pfeiffer beach, treat California. This rock is called the “Keyhole Arch”, doctor a majestic gate carved by the ocean. During a couple of days around the winter Solstice, order the sun is aligned with the Arch, and draws a rectangle of light in the sand. ClĂ©mence shot a different version.

The beach can be found a the end of a long and narrow road, running through the wood. After paying the (quite steep) entrance fee, we realized the view was worth it. We had lunch there, facing the setting sun that showed up thankfully after a long dull and gray day. All the area around there is called Big Sur, one of the most beautiful areas I know. And it is quite a striking feeling to drive on a coastal road, and it suddenly turns as a forest and mountain path, with a deep smell of redwood.
