Madeleine de Proust #1 – sight. Reflects in the puddle. Is there life in this reflect? Is this a snapshot of what we are? When I was a kid, I used to think that every little me reflected everywhere had his own life, toys and friends in some other place. I sometimes wonder what they’ve became. Are they asking the same question?

forgot to tell what’s behind the photo… Nimwendil was hit something like a couple of month ago (which is, to his scale, rather recently ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) by this kind of chain in which you’re asked to tell x things about you/opinion/views… This time is the five sense’s Madeleine de Proust. For those who are not familiar with French culture or don’t know who Proust was, in his novel Remembrance of Things Past(ร€ la recherche du temps perdu in French), he eats a Madeleine, a small cake which brings him back to childhood.

โ€œShe sent out for one of those short, plump little cakes called petites madeleines, which look as though they had been moulded in the fluted scallop of a pilgrim’s shell. And soon, mechanically, weary after a dull day with the prospect of a depressing morrow, I raised to my lips a spoonful of the tea in which I had soaked a morsel of the cake. No sooner had the warm liquid, and the crumbs with it, touched my palate than a shudder ran through my whole body, and I stopped, intent upon the extraordinary changes that were taking placeโ€ฆat once the vicissitudes of life had become indifferent to me, its disasters innocuous, its brevity illusoryโ€ฆโ€

The point is now for me to find 5 pictures that explains what makes me live my childhood again. This is the first out of 5. There should be one picture every week. Meanwhile, I’d like to see Goon‘s and Roccoco‘s ๐Ÿ˜‰

  1. I guess it's not so easy, but you finally decided to continue the chain ! Great news ๐Ÿ™‚ ! And nice first picture ! I'm pretty sure some would tag it as “easy”, but anyways, I like it.
Do you already have the 4 other ones ? Or the ideas for them, at least ?

  2. hehe, I kept that in mind for quite some time as I may be a bit slow sometimes :p Thanks for your input. The picture wasn't THAT easy to take however. And probably lots of people around Bastille now take me for a freak :p I don't have them all, I count on my luck/good will to find them later. Nonetheless, I have some ideas ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Oh my, this is exactly why I hate those chains… It's already hard enough to fill that damn blog everyday, but well. Here is my only and final offer: if I ever feel that 'madeleine' feeling when working my pictures, I'll try to remember of this chain. But don't you count on me to pass it over, it's such a pain in the #@! I don't wish anyone to receive it. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Concerning this picture – and more especially your text – it's really funny cause I had a similar foolish superstition… except I wondered if imagining something happening to me would make it happen in a different reality. Freaking, uh?

  4. @goon: don't you worry, the idea is not to force you to do it, and I wouldn't be so sad if you don't do it ๐Ÿ˜‰ I guess it needs to be natural. It took me 2 month to post this picture, and I'm not so sure I'll be able to fulfill my goal of one madeleine every week. I know what you mean by “hard enough to post one picture everyday” !
