Ilya &#038; Emilia Kabakov &#8220;l&#8217;\u00e9trange cit\u00e9&#8221;, in the Grand Palais, Paris. The previous editions of Monumenta were pretty nice (<a href=\"http:\/\/rataki.eu\/blog\/?p=2152\">Anish Kapoor&#8217;s Leviathan<\/a> in 2011 and Daniel Buren&#8217;s Excentrique(s) in 2012), so we wanted to see this one as well. This year&#8217;s edition was actually pretty deceptive. From &#8220;Monumenta&#8221;, it keeps only the name. The Grand Palais&#8217;s neva is BIG, and the point of the event is to fill the whole place with one BIG piece of art. The &#8220;weird city&#8221; the 2 artists built looked more or less like a trick to display various pieces of art they completed long before this exhibition; even though the latter are not bad (far from it, some pieces are indeed very nice).
